this doesn’t have anything to do with the fourth amendment really if ICE were police they could have done what they wanted multiple exceptions to the fourth amendment that allows law enforcement to do so — But ICE is not law enforcement they just pretend to be and it seems most folks believe it too they are not though which is why they couldn’t. If this barrage continues, then perhaps it is time for congress to give greater authority to ICE, so that they can do their jobs effectively. The FBI started out with very limited powers too

What and how whomever may choose to give ICE authority to arrest/search without a warrant at some point is another issue entirely but for now they were misrepresenting their authority in this instance that isn’t ok this is the kind of thing that erodes general public trust in law enforcement and is counter productive in the long game in my opinion stay in your lane and if you don’t like your lane advocate for a change if your trying to enforce and uphold laws your own adherence to them is paramount anything less is hypocrisy It sounds like this border crisis is just the type of scenario that could trigger such a response.
