Also I agree with you overall that S8 should have been more episodes, but I would take it a step further and say there should have also been more seasons. GRRM spoke about how D&D never wanted to go pass 7 seasons of 10 episodes each, a single season for each book (at this time it was assumed that the books serious would be completed). GRRM having experience in Hollywood, specifically TV series and knowing his source material well pushed for 13 seasons. Eventually they settled on 8 seasons and both HBO & D&D would not budge. He was completely ignorant of the canon material so his problems were purely unbiased and solely based on illogical plots and inconsistencies within the show narrative itself. That’s when I knew we were going to have problems, especially since a majority of these complaints were related purely to poor writing and not budget or film limitations. D&D either lack the talent, the motivation or both to finish the series without GRRM’s work as an outline
