I too have been trying to bring my son’s closer to me. Alot of things came out from past events that I wasn’t aware of that have eroded away our closeness from years ago. I am with you,2. I raised my boys & had no help from their Dad other than financial. Which I know is more then most get. But in my case he drove anger & hatred for women & myself into my oldest Son terribly. I still am not allowed or invited to events that my oldest son has. Due to my Son allowing his Father to still control me through the kids. It’s pretty devastating when their father never was there for them. Yet when he wants anything from them, they show up. The great wave off kanagawa godzilla shirt I don’t want anything out of my son’s but their presence & time to visit & bond again.
This helps me, seeing all of you other Mom’s & a few Dad’s; hurting & being dismissed as if were a piece of furniture, put in storage. Like they will use us again some day. But mean while we are dead. Or so it feels when you call & text & all you get is. . . Nothing??? It’s killing me, literally He will come around, these are phases that kids go through when they are figuring out who they are and what decisions they have to take as they become adults. All I can say is be patient, give him time to mature more and he will understand what you have done for him was the best you could do under your circumstances. I wish you joyful days with your son in the near future, don’t be sad he will come around… That must have been so hard at 14. I think you sound like a hero. We just kind of have to accept though that some ppl are just quite horrid. And sometimes we are related to those people. You can choose your friends.
