I think all we can ask for in life is for people to recognize when we’re giving our 100% and that they allow their expectations to feed from there, not their own preconceived notions. How free we’d all be then to live in the endless emotions, experiences, and colors of life. It seems to me that children with disabilities are accepting and caring all the way around. My son, who is not disabled, has a very special bond with a little girl in his class who has Down syndrome. She is very attached to my son, calls him her brother. My son is so incredibly patient with her, more patient than most adults. I don’t think he even needs patience, he really likes being a part of her development and genuinely enjoys her company. He has such an amazing heart, I’m very proud of him.
