Look, if you want to ignore all the parts of the Old Testament that say we need to murder gays and non virgin women, that’s fine. If you want to ignore Deuteronomy 22:27-29 where god gives us the rules to raping virgins, that’s fine. If you want to ignore when god orders the genocide of the Canaanites and the Amalekites, that’s your decision. My cooking is so fabulous even the smoke alarms cheer me on shirt But I’ve read the bible and I can’t ignore those things. the law is not referencing the stoning of homosexuals but rather the Ten Commandments… It is a clear reference to that hermeneutically and if you’d like me to cite sources I can do so.

The Ten Commandments were given to show mankind what sin is and to essentially show us that we all are incapable of avoiding it. Mankind tried endlessly to overcome it but are unable for even if they follow every measure of the law in their hearts they break it. Jesus fulfilled the law in being sinless and then taking the punishment of sin upon himself.  that the laws breaking is ultimately a heart issues and one every last one of us has done. The first four commandments refer to God being as jealous as a 13 year old girl with her first boyfriend and none of them mentions rape and slavery. I could come up with better commandments than that.
