I live in South Louisiana, just 4 hours drive from Houston, and I never heard of Selina until her death was all over the news, I didn’t know who she was, I had never heard of her. Then we suddenly began hearing her music played after that, then even more after the movie was released. I really liked it and I wish I had known of her before… At the time of her death, she was very popular in Mexico, and maybe even Texas, and in places in America with a large Mexican populations, but she was only just beginning to cross over into American (English language) pop music, so she wasn’t very well known nationwide.
