I’m so sorry to hear this. My mum lost her sight at 16… she’s now 61. The doctors never knew what happened! We were informed it was just one of those things, like a freak accident almost. But what was the accident?? I have considered and was also told that living in the Caribbean (Trinidad to be exact) at that time, they did not have the access or the advanced technology like America to figure what exactly happened. Nevertheless my mum is my role model…. Vintage I run because I really like beer shirt my best friend…my confidant… I can go on but I only know her being blind! My mum was married and had me and my two sisters after. There’s a running joke amongst the family… the only thing she doesn’t do is drive! She cooks, she worked for the federal government until she chose to retire. I’m saying this to say, be patient with your mum, try to help her understand she has an advantage a lot of blind ppl don’t have…..
Take your time and get your tee
I’m sorry, that is such a hard experience to deal with for both your mom and for you. My mother has been blind since she was 13 and my grandmother was blind at birth. There are so many organizations and groups that can help. Feel free to PM if if you need help locating anything or suggestions. Much love to you both. I’m not blind, but before surgery I had a very strong prescription. You develop little habits to help yourself, like putting the shampoo on the left and conditioner on the right. Putting household goods in the exact same place is very helpful. It’s wonderful to see a company actively pursuing ways to help those with low or no vision live safer and easier lives. Every little bit helps improve independence and quality of life.
