I was 9 years old and made friends with a little girl my age who had down syndrome…she called me Yiya..for Gloria. I didn’t know at that time what was down syndrome. Down syndrome mom shirt All I knew was that we liked each other and played well together. As a young girl I don’t recall not ever understanding her. Children have their own way of communicating. I’m A grandmother now and I still remember my friend who called me Yiya.

So true! I remember a little girl who lived in the barn on the same property we rented from. Her family were from Mexico. We did not speak the same language but I know we loved each other like sisters. .I think of her often.I never knew her real name.I called her Darlene. lol She would respond to it so I guess she liked it. One day I came home from school, the first grade and her family was gone. It broke my heart. Jut wondering Down syndrome mom shirt I mean I look at these two babies enjoying a happy carefree childhood I look at my 4 babies enjoying a happy and carefree childhood. Oh u mean the fact that they look a little diffrent isn’t that what makes us all unique we are all diffrent to one another in looks and characteristics…so again please define normal?
Beautiful Gods little Angels they are so loving. I used to be a cab driver years ago and there was a boy named Henry I used to take home from his school, every time I picked him up he always gave me a hug and say are you taking me home today? The first time he did this I was taken aback but to him, it was so natural. when he hugged me it felt so nice. I felt honoured. They have such love and innocence you just want to wrap them up in cotton wool and protect them. He was number ten of eleven children and was loved and cherished by all his siblings parents and extended family… We were all blessed and privelidged to have him in our midst as he brought pure love, joy, happiness and tenderness to everyone.
