Anyone in a uniform is a soldier first. Anyone person in uniform could very well be a commanding officer given the situation. As technology becomes better and more robust, those limitations will fall by the wayside.
Many serve today with missing limbs and hearing loss. They can’t necessarily deploy but they prove Invaluable in other roles. I am entirely for equality but your not seeing the bigger picture of why someone impaired should not be on our military. and it doesn’t matter what type of job you have all of our field can ultimately see action. It could be life threatening. Every soldier no matter their field is still a soldier. Thats why every soldier goes to basic combat training. A cook may be in the field and what happens when our fob gets attacked. That goes for any of those jobs. In a certain event they may need to work as a team with everyone else to protect themselves and others. Everyone down to the cook in the mess hall is trained to engage the enemy.
