arts and music programs across the country have been so underfunded that they’ve been cut down to nothing in public schools. My BA degree is in music education. The starting salary for a high school music teacher in my state in most public schools hiring was in the low 20k range. That tells you how much value they put on the arts in the public school system. the entire public education system needs an overhaul then because the foremost education you receive in public school is how to grow up to be a corporate 9 to 5 slave. This is unrealistic. A teacher cannot teach first grade reading, sixth grade science and musical instruments and still have the experience in Educational Administration needed for such a job. I definitely want a S of E who is committed to public education and this sounds good but it’s simply not possible.
