Yes there are racist across the board but that which was lying underneath and came out to put Donald Trump in the White House should be a wake up call for this country as an African-American I haven’t experienced this much racism in such a short time since Trump has been elected then I had in my early years Racism is so embedded in our country and lives, it’s not something that can be worked out in our life times. Some of the spanish guys I know don’t like black people, I work with black guys at my job that let white or other ethnic stereo types blurted out and it’s always in fun and jokes.
I don’t think they are racist but to a degree many people use it in humor and I think that’s the norm now. You can’t beat the bully up but you can make fun of him. I have seen this as well. I grew up in a small town and never saw a person of color, except on tv, until I was 10 years old. Most of the people I grew up around, friends and family, were good people but the jokes and sayings were a normal part of life for them. They truly didn’t see anything wrong with it because they grew up hearing the same things. It’s a cycle and cannot be broken until people are educated to understand that what they are doing is, in fact, racism.
