Straight after finishing my degree, I took on an internship and within 6 months of graduating, I’m on a real wage working for the VC, living in my own home whilst I’m doing my MA. I’m really not trying to brag here, but this demonstrates how when you take the opportunities that are given to you, say yes to absolutely aything that’s available, absolutely anything, it pays. It really pays. and I have so many options ahead of me.All those opportunities were so easy to take on because nobody was applying for them, I totally understand why folk don’t know what they’re going to do when they graduate because so many people just turn up to classes (sometimes not even that) and then expect a bag of jobs at the door on their way out. If you’re not working for it, you’re not going to get it, that’s the brutal reality. I get it, it’s a damn struggle. I wish you all the best in your job search – my advice: say “yes” more. As Tom Young said above: taking those opportunities that no-one ever really “feeeeeeels like” being bothered with will 100% pay off.
