He was talking up his visit with Hawk and said Harrellson was the first one to tell him he should go into broadcasting. Claimed he said it right after he saw him bat for the first time. A lot of people can describe the action and even do it very well. Not too many have personality and charisma and the ability to be naturally entertaining
while being a true representative of their respective teams and fans while also being able to bring decades of their experiences from the game and perspective they have from that into the broadcast. Hawk & Uecker epitomize all of that. Am I the only one that wanted to hear what Uecker had to say, yet Hawk did all the talking. Don’t believe me, watch it over. My gosh, we’ve heard every baseball story of Hawk from Hawk, I really wanted to hear what Uecker had to say. Pretty sure she means it would have been nice if the White Sox would have announced he was going to be there in advance. Not hey let’s get in a time machine.
