it was obviously false. they were using god’s grace and forgiveness as a license to sin and beat their wife. example: “oh it’s okay if i beat her today. i can just repent tomorrow or later because god forgives all and he is so full of grace”. while god does forgive and is full of grace, his grace will not be upon him (abusive husband) if there is no true change. even as a christian myself, i would never condone violence in a marriage. if you are being abused physically, emotionally, leave! get out!
