Unique. One of a kind. She went happily from Hollywood glam to la la land monsters. I can choose no single one of her films as the favorite. I know she wasn’t everyoned cup of tea, but any film in which she appeared seemed better for having her. By the way, who is running the Bette Davis Estate? that is MY all time favorite one of Bette’s movies as well. I didn’t enjoy this movie Bette davis and joan crawford but ya are blanche ya are in that chair shirt however it does show the full extent of her acting abilities. There isn’t an actress in Hollywood today that can even come close to Bettes acting abilities. ( or any of the actors & actresses from the 1930’s & 1940’s ) I did watch this movie, for me it was so scary. Her sister was in the wheelchair bc of her, for it she was regretted, that made her became depressed and go crazy…..Could u tell me the name if this movie.

My eyes and ears are still hurting from this performance. The look on the face of the pianist says it all. Yet in fairness…it would take a great actor to intentionally do this awful scene. She was a beauty in her time and an amazing actress. This and ‘Sunset Boulevard’ are awesome character studies! Watch the staircase scene at the end, where Norma Desmond is heading down to be taken away. Shock,sadness, horror and pity. “I’m ready for my close up Mr. Demille” I have thought of this scene so often. Bette, you gave me a strong, capable woman to look up to in so many of your movies when I was growing up. Thanks for the memories, BD!
