The robotic animals designed to be friends with children in Five Nights at Freddy’s sometimes take on particularly creepy rather than friendly appearances.
Five Nights at Freddy’s
Animatronic is the name for the automatic animals of the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza chain. They are designed to be mascots with the task of attracting children to these food outlets. However, at night, the other face inside the mechanical beasts and the creepy secrets they carry have turned these friendly machines into a nightmare.
However, the original purpose they were created was still to be friends with customers, especially children. That’s why it’s unbelievable that some animatronics are designed with a shape and character that looks very scary from the start, let alone the haunting they bring at night. Let’s take a look at these animatronics that contribute to “chasing customers”!
At the top of this list is definitely the fox Foxy in the first version of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Contrary to 3 active friends Freddy, Bonnie and Chica – Foxy has a rather scary appearance. The fox’s already ferocious face filled with fangs in the style of a predator has been redesigned to resemble that of a pirate with an eye patch and a right hand replaced with a hook.
Even more terrifying, it seems that due to such a scary appearance, Foxy has been discontinued and stored in a separate room. After many days of not being maintained, it was torn and old, causing even the other hand to stick out the skeleton. While Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica are the more popular and active animatronics, Foxy turns out to be a stepbrother and one of two hidden animatronics, the other being Golden Freddy.
Along with other animatronics at the same store, Foxy is haunted by the spirit of one of the five children murdered by William Afton. These spirits control animatronics that blindly seek out their killers for revenge and are then returned and disassembled by Afton himself. However, the villain was wrong because when disassembling the animatronics, the evil spirits were also released, leading to the death of the perpetrator himself.
Just by seeing a sample of Toy Chica’s true appearance, you will definitely actively vote for this animatronic on the chart we are talking about here. Saying it looks “real” because actually, when on stage, this Toy Chica chicken has all the accessories that look very cute. However, after leaving the stage, Chica also removed all her eyelids, irises, decorations and beak.
If the original Chica model helps you see right away, it’s a chicken-shaped mascot, which is a bit odd, but at least not as hideous as this “bare face” version of Toy Chica. The most macabre highlight is the removal of… the characteristic beak. A chicken that has lost its beak is scary enough, Toy Chica is also fitted with a human tooth and a shiny “kute” appearance that is lost all the way down to the Nine Heavens. The overall look of Toy Chica after leaving the stage is very similar to a ghost clown in the movie or Mr. Mime horror version in Pokemon.
Although it is a new design, due to the loss of business of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant chain, the new Toy animatronic group, including Toy Chica, was quickly disassembled and destroyed.
Balloon Boy aka BB is an animatronic that sells balloons in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. It is designed as a friendly boy with a balloon in his hand and a gentle smiling face. However, until the version of Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery when people decided to make other looks for it, everything turned out to be unusually horror.
The Swarm Balloon Boy version features an animatronic abandoned in the swamp. Its body was covered with mud and moss, the “bubble” sign was replaced by the word “rotten”. Its two eyes fell off, leaving 2 deep black eye sockets and a grinning mouth without any teeth that looked extremely terrifying.
Swarm Balloon Boy is the horror version but not the only scary look of this animatronic. Other versions are also quite scary like Frostbite Balloon Boy, Jetpack Balloon Boy also has its own scary features. Another version is the Nightmare Balloon Boy appearing in Five Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted in his monstrous form. In this version, the boy selling bubbles has turned into a monster with 2 layers of sharp teeth and a bone hand.
In general, Balloon Boy was originally designed as a secondary animatronic with the job of supporting the mascots but gradually it was transformed by William Afton (and the game makers) into a kind of scary and deadly.
Referred to as an almost systematic bug: “RWQFSFASXC,” Shadow Bonnie is a mysterious entity that appears in the form of a black shadow. When standing in the dark, it only revealed its eyes and white teeth that looked extremely scary. Shadow Bonnie’s shadow takes the form of Bonnie rabbit in Freddy’s animatronic group, but its origin is a mystery and not much is mentioned.
This mysterious shadow first appeared in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 but only briefly. It wasn’t until the Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery version that it was really a player hunter. Taking advantage of his dark shadow, Shadow Bonnie hides behind common objects in AR mode as well as sneaking up behind the player. Players will have to use a flashlight to scare it away or it will catch up and launch a heart-pounding scare.
Imagine something sneaking up behind you but only seeing a shadow or just its glowing eyes and teeth are scary enough, right?
If a living body was stripped of its skin, it would look terrifying. This was applied with the Yenndo animatronic. This prototype is actually an uncased animatronic chassis. It exposes the entire skeleton and internal organs of the body like the skeleton of a human doll for students to learn. In terms of structure, it seems that Yenndo is a backup skeleton of Freddy with many similar details in terms of position and structure on the body.
Yenndo first appeared in the game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location. However, its density is quite rare and when it does appear, it behaves quite similar to Golden Freddy in previous games.
In the group of Endoskeleton skeletons that appear regularly in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, Yenndo is considered a special and more complete version. In the latest version of the game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, the player also encounters a group of Endoskeletons unfinished in a maintenance area in the basement of Pizzaplex and they play a classic scare game called “look” stare”. As long as the player looks away, they will begin to move and approach gradually. And when staring at them, they will stand still, pretending to be statues.
It seems that Freddy the bear appearing normally is always boring, so to Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, the producer added it a cub. These little ones are called the Freddles, a group of miniature animatronics that take the form of Freddy with their extremely menacing pointed teeth.
Large, use quality, small use quantity, horror elements are also based on this lesson. Large tigers hunt alone but smaller wolves hunt in groups, which makes them more dangerous even without the advantage of size. So are Freddles, they are a group of miniature versions of Nightmare Freddy. It doesn’t appear to be dangerous when it appears individually, but when gathered together, it clearly looks very scary.
Even more terrifying is that they have the ability to summon Nightmare Freddy, the main version of Freddy’s claws of Five Nights at Freddy’s 4. Unlike Nightmare Freddy, the Freddys do not have information about their origin as well as detailed description. Many fans speculate that they were originally made from Freddy’s dolls and each represents a piece of power that, when combined, will form the complete Nightmare Freddy.
So we have gone through 6 examples of particularly scary animatronics in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, there are still other models in the next article, stay tuned for part 2!
