On Thursday, Sept. 8, the Buffalo Bills will travel to face the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams to begin the 2022 NFL regular season. On Monday Night Football, the Denver Broncos will play Russell Wilson’s former team, the Seattle Seahawks, on the road in the final game of the first week.

Since bye weeks don’t begin until Week 6, all 32 teams will be in action during the first week of the season. What games should the attention of viewers in a knockout or survival league be on, though? Here are some top picks from the NFL Week 1 Survivor League.
Week 1 of the NFL season in particular can be challenging because fans have yet to see teams compete in games that matter. It can be challenging to really understand some teams. And while surprises may and do happen at any time in a season, the first week of an NFL season has historically produced some puzzling outcomes (i.e., the Jacksonville Jaguars defeating the Indianapolis Colts in 2020 or the Pittsburgh Steelers besting the Bills last season). Focus on the games listed below in Week 1 if you want to survive and advance in a 2022 NFL survivor league this season.
The Baltimore Ravens concluded last season with an 8-9 record, while the New York Jets had a 4-13 record. The Tennessee Titans had the best record in the AFC going into the playoffs in 2021 after finishing the regular season 12-5, tied with the Kansas City Chiefs. The New York Giants finished last in the NFC East with a 4-13 record.
A.J. Brown was traded by the Titans to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2022 NFL Draft, which is a big loss for them. The Titans still possess the edge at quarterback, though. Although Ryan Tannehill is a superior quarterback to Daniel Jones, he may not be a future Hall of Famer.

Despite not having the best AFC record in 2022, the Titans shouldn’t have any trouble defeating the Giants.
Carson Wentz is currently a member of the Washington Commanders, so Indy is also free of his presence. For the Colts, Matt Ryan will now be the quarterback. While many have always questioned Ryan’s abilities and where he stands among NFL quarterbacks, there is no denying that he is an improvement over Wentz. The Colts have a stronger quarterback and roster overall. This season, Indianapolis ought to get off to a 1-0 start.
Philadelphia might take home the NFC East title this year and play a role in the playoffs. And Jalen Hurts will be essential to the Eagles’ 2022 success. Hurts is capable of moving on to the next level, and the Eagles have the talent to support him in that endeavor. A trade made at the NFL draught allowed Philly to acquire Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown this offseason.
The Detroit Lions finished last in the NFC North last year after posting a 3-13-1 record. They might become better this year, but they still can’t compare to the Eagles. While others are unsure about how Hurts will fare this season, Philly possesses the better roster. Since he is already more capable and reliable than Jared Goff, the Eagles hold the advantage at the crucial position.
One last game to keep in mind is the Monday Night Football contest between Russell Wilson’s former team, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Denver Broncos. However, the Broncos have a superior roster overall. Both teams have some talented offensive weapons, though the Seahawks may have the advantage there thanks to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. And the quarterback position clearly belongs to the Broncos.
As they want to get out to a fast start and maintain momentum in the greatest division in the NFL, Wilson and the Broncos shouldn’t have any difficulties against the Seahawks.
The San Francisco 49ers (against the Chicago Bears) and Cincinnati Bengals are two other groups to take into account in Week 1 of NFL survival leagues (versus Pittsburgh Steelers). However, it could be wise to wait and see Trey Lance’s performance before selecting the 49ers in a knockout pool. Fans may want to watch how Mitch Trubisky performs in Pittsburgh before betting against the Steelers.
