“If the world really has Wonderland, it’s New York with its original appeal and endless opportunities,” model Dagliê Santos announced to us while walking in New York’s Central Park (New York). Central Park) with photographer Nestor Correa and stylist Tony B.
Take a stroll in new york central park and chat with model daglie santos
Model Dagliê Santos was born in Brazil. With work in seven countries spanning three continents, she has achieved certain achievements in the modeling profession. Not only that, this talented girl is also a violinist. She has been invited to perform in China and Brazil. She performed at many Brazilian Electronic Music Festivals. She also won a medal at the Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad. Last August 16, she received her bachelor’s degree in Law!
Reading this far, you must think again is the story of a rich girl, born in the middle of nowhere. But not. The story of Dagliê Santos is not the story of a girl with a lucky fate, but of someone who worked so hard to get ahead.
Dagliê Santos left her hometown of Joaçaba, a rural area in the state of Santa Catarina, South Brazil, in 2016. At that time, she had only $50 in her pocket, herself, and the blind brave spirit of youth. The kind of spirit that you only encounter in two types of people: First, the crazy type. Second, the type of person who inspires, makes us believe that there are still many miracles in life.
DAGLIE SANTOS: Every day I am the inspirational type. But one day suddenly became mad. I guess this is the personality of the same person (laughs).
DAGLIE SANTOS: I think first of all I have to build myself a resolute spirit. Don’t think life is easy. Certainly not. What’s my path? Learn from each challenge. I love my growing up process. You also have to learn to be strong enough to see who you really are. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Where did you go wrong? Which is the right place? Cold self-analysis can be painful. But when you understand yourself, no one can stop you..
DAGLIê SANTOS: I appreciate the opportunity to work with so many talented people, for example the team that helped me with this shoot.
Harper’s Bazaar: What has the fashion industry taught you?
DAGLIê SANTOS: In terms of beauty standards, I understand beauty as a completely open and socially structural point of view. Nothing is right or wrong. It’s all a matter of culture. The meaning of beauty changes in space and time. Skin color and type, style, body shape, hairstyle may be considered beautiful in one country, but unpopular in another.
For example, in places like Brazil or the US, tanned skin color is considered the standard of sexy, healthy beauty that many people desire. People proudly show off their brown skin, even trying to dye their skin brown. Our cosmetics must bring out the tan.
I also worked in the beauty industry in China. To the people here, tanned like the apocalypse! Tanned skin color represents low social class. The brighter the skin, the better influence you have and the more beautiful and sexy you are..
DAGLIê SANTOS: I have always been passionate about the concept of Coexistence and Antagonism. In this set of photos, I suggest that the team combine two opposing styles: the negative beauty of Asia: femininity, softness, slimness and harmony. On the other hand, I want to incorporate the positive representation of New YorkOn. It is the flowing energy that this city always brings unexpected attractions to everyone.
We named my character Alice. She lives in a mythical world, anything is possible. She is curious and interested in observing the world around her.
China’s view of beauty points to an unreal fantasy world. Feminine style is gentle to the outside, like a miracle. Speaking of miracles… Don’t forget there’s a city in the other half of the world, where they say anything is possible. The night light was so bright, it made everything look like a dream. If the world really has Wonderland, it’s New York with its original appeal and endless opportunities.
