The watch’s middle case is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel, a special corrosion-resistant alloy. The delicately grooved case back is tightened with a special tool so that only Rolex watchmakers can access the movement inside. The Twinlock crown, equipped with a double-layer waterproofing system, tightens to the watch case and is protected by an inseparable crown-shaped guard. The watch glass is made of sapphire with scratch resistance and has an anti-reflective coating. The waterproof Oyster case provides ultimate protection for the watch’s movement.
The new generation Air-King is powered by caliber 3230, a self-winding mechanical movement developed and crafted by Rolex, launched in 2020, and fitted to this model in 2022. At the forefront of craftsmanship. This multi-patented, self-winding mechanical watch boasts the characteristics of precision, power reserve, impact and magnetic resistance, ease of use, and reliability.
Caliber 3230 integrates with the patented Chronergy escapement, which combines energy efficiency and high reliability, with a nickel-phosphorus material that protects against magnetic influences. The movement fitted with the ultimate blue Parachrom hairspring is manufactured by Rolex in a paramagnetic alloy, with the addition of a Rolex hairspring, ensuring steady operation in all positions. The oscillator is housed between high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, designed by Rolex and patented, increasing the movement’s shock resistance.
Caliber 3230 incorporates a self-winding module thanks to the Perpetual rotor. Thanks to the newly designed hairspring and the extremely efficient escapement, the power reserve of the caliber 3230 can last up to 70 hours.
The new generation Air-King is equipped with an Oyster strap. Developed in the late 1930s, this three-piece joint Oyster bracelet remains the most popular bracelet in the Oyster Perpetual collection and is renowned for its incredible durability.
The Oyster bracelet on this new version is equipped with a Rolex-designed and patented Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental release. In addition, the convenient Easylink extension eyelet, developed by Rolex itself, makes it easy for the wearer to adjust the strap length by about 5 mm. In addition, the included hidden folding system ensures a seamless design between the strap and the watch case.
