A casting call for extras has been issued by a Connecticut film production firm that specializes in Hallmark Christmas movies for a film that will be shot in Hartford from September through December. The film is set in Harlem, but will be shot mostly on Capitol Avenue in Hartford.
Extras are needed for a Hallmark Christmas movie being filmed in Hartford
Everyone who is cast in the film “Christmas in Harlem” must take a COVID test and pass it. HBG Casting’s Hilary Greer revealed that 20 to 25 extras will be picked to work many days. Those that apply first will have a better chance of being chosen for numerous days. Those who were not chosen for this film will be added to HBG Casting’s database for future opportunities, according to Greer. “After this, we’re shooting ‘A Sugar Plum Christmas’ in Norwich. Then there’s ‘Royal Gossip,’ which will be shot in Connecticut as well,” she explained. Synthetic Cinema, situated in Rocky Hill, has produced a number of Christmas films, including “The Noel Diary,” “One Royal Holiday,” “A Very Nutty Christmas,” “Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane,” “Christmas at Pemberley Manor,” and “A Very Merry Toy Store,” all of which were shot in Connecticut.
This holiday season, Marietta residents may notice something familiar on their television screens. Executive producer Tracy “Twinkie” Byrd told The Marietta Daily Journal that movie crews were filming at the Marietta Square on Wednesday afternoon for a Christmas movie that would premiere on Lifetime in December. Shop windows, parts of West Park Square, and Glover Park were all decked out for the holidays. According to The MDJ, the filming will take place at Lizards & Lollipopz, Rhinos and Rhinestonez, and Piastra Italian Cuisine in Marietta. The real names of the stores will be used in the film, rather than being replaced with fictitious names as in the past. Byrd did not reveal the title or cast of the film, but municipal authorities say it is titled “Gospel Christmas.” Byrd told The MDJ that further information should be accessible on Sept. 15. Crews will be back to Glover Park Thursday afternoon for more filming after filming finished at 1 a.m. The set will be dismantled on Friday morning.
