Photographer Manny Roman is not a strange face to Vietnamese readers. He is the photographer in New York for supermodel Minh Tu when she participates in New York Fashion Week in February 2020. He has a project to organize the exhibition Essence of a Woman in 2020. However, the Covid pandemic has delayed the plan. After a long time, he was able to do the next set of photos in his project. The muse this time is the beautiful model Lorena Duran.
Latin girl Lorena Duran started her career as a swimsuit model in 2020. She is the first curvaceous model to appear in the advertising campaign of Victoria’s Secret. This brand had to change its strategy and use plump models. Before that, consumers raised a movement against the company’s always using models with perfect bodies. They wanted Victoria’s Secret products to be diverse and inclusive of all body types.
A friend, Desire Cordero, introduced Lorena to Manny. The two quickly became close friends. Manny knows Lorena Duran’s personality well. Thus his lens easily captured every subtle expression of her emotions. With Manny, when Lorena walked into any place, her beauty and energy immediately filled that place. “She is funny, makes everyone laugh. So she grips no one to escape her magic,” Manny announced. There will be about 20 to 25 works on display. Manny Roman selected the exhibition photos based on the following criteria: friendship with the muses and the emotions expressed in the works. He hopes to be able to start the Essence of a Woman exhibition on February 22, 2022, if not affected by the pandemic. The exhibition will take place in New York, but he has now received invitations to showcase his work in Miami, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico.
