People may not see the purpose but it is good to maintain focus in the battle field. Some countries give you a frog to hold to try alleviate the fear out there that might just save your life in a gun battle… I am the dispatcher protecting the three anti-dust face mask its just a matter of using something distracting but still hoping they maintain focus… 1 second of distraction out there u might be a dead man walking… Here u probably see it as gimmicks but out there staying focus is a life saver or U ever in a situation where you need to be serious and can’t stop laughing and as a result insulted someone?

Imagine a cop coming to handle your complaint and laughing away at some foolish reason instead of handling the matter… How would you feel? They’re police, not soldiers going into battle. They’re dealing with civilians, not enemy combatants. Their purpose is to ensure our safety and that our passions don’t overwhelm our reason (with regard to our public behavior, obviously). They need a different kind of discipline than the military. Honestly, they should be trained more like DSPs working with people with developmental disabilities. Aside from the greater capacity for compassion and ability to handle and de-escalate situations before they get out of hand, it would be a far more accurate way to view the general populace. No, It’s about being able to focus on your purpose ….
