If you’re against an equal investment in school systems what you are essentially saying is that a child’s education is only as worth as the neighborhood their parents can afford. Where in this post does anyone, including me, say anything about more welfare? All I said was state property taxes should be spread evenly among public school districts. I’m speaking as someone who taught for 38 years and has seen the disproportion between school districts that adds to de facto segregation. The best kind of dad raise a veteran shirt we they would not send the check to parents #1 it would go directly to the school. #2 but the requirements on all schools and get rid of no one left behind. You will never fix parents who do not want to get involved with parents education. You can not change people’s priorities or choices. You can give the parents who want their children to do better the options and that is something they do not have.
If they are in a crappy district because that is the home they can afford, it will not stop their child to go to the better schools. There are many public schools that are better in the next district. The taxes are paid per house cost right now. So to do it equally you would have to either make people pay more who have lower cost homes and or reduce cost of higher homes. How does that make sense. if you do a voucher program you are doing an equal per home goes into a state fund. You decide what school you want your child to go to and the tax money is sent. The schools that had could teachers and programs would have to expand and the bad ones would eventually close.
