I’m so over White people being in denial about the racist system they created and promote on a daily basis in their hearts and out of their mouths. Some teachers be like I need a break but don’t trust a soul with their students shirt This system will end when White people fix it. Call out your white coworkers when they use racist epithets.

Was just talking about this with someone today, how growing up we’d hear the older generation make some nasty comment but if we asked , hey what about your friend who’s black, Asian, Jewish, etc, they would respond with “oh they’re one of the good ones” or something similar. The idea that if you know the person that means they’re good and you’re not racist because you’re friends with them. It’s crazy how deep that kind of thinking goes and Some teachers be like I need a break but don’t trust a soul with their students shirt how the brain rationalizes things!! And this is the problem… these white folks won’t listen… if myself, or other poc tried to explain why this behavior was wrong, they’d become defensive and angry. This is the problem! I don’t trust people like that… it’s sad but it’s the truth… maybe one day.

It goes for every color. You may not consider yourself racist but you may sit around a dinner table with family and listen to or partake in racist jokes or language. You may say one thing to your family then go out and hang out with friends of the same race you were laughing about. It’s all about what’s acceptable in your surrounding group and that list’s getting shorter and shorter. A lot of people think that being a racist is only when someone is overtly mean to other races. It’s not only that, it’s the stereotypes that you have of other races. It’s the jokes that you tell when other races or nationalities are not around. It’s not hiring someone because you fear that your customers will not like a black or a sikh employee. It’s your heart racing when followed by a black person at night.If you can liberate your mind of these racist ideas and behaviors then you can be truly not racist.
