this is only for individuals recovering from a qualifying health condition that has them out for a period of time that exceeds 14 days. If you would have given birth, short-term disability would have only covered 6 weeks of that leave with the first two not being covered because that is the elimination/waiting period before the benefit would have been paid out. If there was complications with the pregnancy, then and only then would the benefit be extended past the 6 weeks with the appropriate medical certification. Individuals planning to have a family by way of adoption need to plan from a financial standpoint.
