Rhett was a strong gentleman with strong traditional convictions, read the book, watch the movie, then talk please. Its an offence for those who worship the script, characters and the direction. got a couple good irish sons that appreciate the girls and open doors for them even ,to be told I don’t need a guy to do that for me so to be appreciated I’m not yelling I am from rhode island I’m just wicked loud shirt you got to appreciate thoughtful guys The good old days of movie making. We all knew Rhett was referring to something else wink wink.
Actors didn’t have to drop “F” bombs and be naked in scenes to get their point across like they do now. This movie was sensual, intelligent and classy. My favorite then, now and always! For those who feel Scarlett didn’t appreciate Rhett, it is because the movie had to be abridged to include only key scenes relevant to the story. In the book, Scarlett and Rhett were good pals, but while he may have flirted with her, she didn’t flirt with him unless wanting something. They were good friends during the war, and he escorted her places. The first half of the book emphasizes friendship of the two.
