People over think, but doesn’t understand a beautiful message. Even when the message said he acted like he was blind is because he doesn’t want the wife to be self conscious and be unease of how she look and he is sparing her the anguish of that thought. So for him to do what he did even if it’s fiction he loves her tremendously. I hear cases with real life men they leave their wife because she doesn’t weigh and look like they did when they first met because do to having babies or health issues. point is good but how they tell it is not even close to being acceptable, I used to be wild af and then I had kids now they are wild af the cycle of life shirt I watched my wife change from the most beautiful person I was blessed to be with, to someone who lost everything to cancer including her dignity BUT there was never a day where she was ugly. Even though I respect your point of view but he doesn’t want to hurt her feeling , because she is ugly ,,and normally ladies they don’t believe their husbands if they are not beautiful ,and husbands inspire of all this keep loving ,they stro ngly believe ,love is inside and outside.i..e outside. appearance I mean This gives such a negative message. Would have sounded good if he didn’t act blind and still loved his wife for who she was regardless of her physical appearance. Would have made her feel that he’d love her regardless of how she looks on the outside. It’s more like a moral of the story.

He turned a blind eye to her changing of her physical being. He wanted her to still feel loved and that their marriage wasn’t based upon her looks but who she was. it definitely doesn’t give out that message. If he wanted her to feel loved regardless of her looks, then he didn’t have to act blind for her to realize that her husband can’t see her ugly looks otherwise he might not have loved her so much. He rather should have showed her all the love with eyes wide open so she’d know that her looks weren’t the only important thing to him but her heart was more important.
