So sad that there are folks who need a constant barrage of people around them to feel good about themselves. Almost like an addiction. Alone does not equate to lonely! Yup, that’s suburban Detroit for ya. The resentment is so misdirected, that’s why it makes me sad. Working class people of all colors have so much in common, I used to be so nice and sweet now I’m just like fuck you shirt the underpinnings of our system were literally designed for us not to see it. I hope we do, though Living in central Texas opened my eyes to blatant racism. I grew up in Madison Wisconsin and it has one of the top 10 Universities in the US.
I saw hundreds of nationalities growing up and when I’d see new people I wasn’t even aware they had a color. I was unprepared for what I heard and saw in Texas. Indirect bigotry is still bigotry. If someone who didn’t know you, called you a Cracker behind your back, then is that being kind or fair. It’s hard to point out to people when they are being racists but if not you – then who? They are racist. They think that the few black men they “like” are the exception and can’t open their eyes to see that they’re the norm. If you feel ashamed enough to not say something in front of certain people it should be an internal indicator that you need to change what you’re doing. It’s like when everyone supported Trump saying what he said was “normal locker room talk” that doesn’t make it okay or make you a good person because you can hide your hatred behind a mask.
