I was in a controlling and abusive relationship at one point in my life. I now have a husband that is very loving and lets me be. I am lucky to have left. Sadly, many women aren’t. This is why it’s important to talk to our kids (boys and girls) about this, warning signs and how easily you can fall prey to this. Totally agree with you Jay. Works both ways too. Once they get you by the hook obsession and control begins. So it was never love from the start. We can’t predict the future but we just have to be more careful next time and hope that we can make better choices knowing what’s real love and what’s not unless we’re desperate and not care. I dated a guy in high school like this. He was in college and completely controlling. Finally broke up with him after numerous instances of possessiveness and arguments. He scared the hell out of me.
