They might just be what we fear but they could also be something completely different. Labeling them as racist before we know more is, I think, a bit hasty. I don’t think saying someone is racist is shaming them into compliance. On the contrary, when people are told straight, they are given a reality check and have the chance to realise the error of their ways. Treading lightly merely perpetuates this kind of behaviour and makes it ok.
