When you love a song when you are 16 and your children discover the same song and love it when they are 16 and when their children fall in love with the music of Sir Elton John, you know his music will continue to give comfort and strength forever. didnt enjoy Tiny Dancer or Rocket Man videos which is my favorite Elton track. I will stay with the images in my head and my reality of what the songs mean and will certainly never watch that Rocket Man video ever again. Creating a video for a standard is a very, very difficult task. We all have our individual sets of memories and mental images about this song. They’ve been concretized over decades. I understand the impetus behind this video was meant to reflect Elton & Bernie’s initial impression and love of L.A. I loved it too and lived there for a decade. But, for me, this video didn’t speak to the essence of the song. It could be the video for nearly ANY song. And I feel Tiny Dancer deserves much, much better.
