I think a lot of people misinterpret what a human right actually is, and that’s all my point was about. Because if you are entitled by birth to healthcare, that means doctors are required by vocation to help you, no matter what. Bud light beer floral hawaiian shirt Otherwise, I totally agree with you and have no problem paying taxes for all of us to benefit from social programs we can agree on as a nation. Which is tough, I know. But thats democracy for ya It’s called “reallocate funds”. Take 25% of the military budget, bam it’s paid for. Doctors are required by law to care for you – it’s called EMTALA, it was passed in 1986 and it says you cannot be denied screening and treatment in an emergency room regardless of your insurance status or ability to pay.
So the debate about whether healthcare is a right has been settled. Now we are just bickering about whether someone is entitled to routine care and if he/she has the right to not go bankrupt because of it. It’s probably more useful to look at how the insurance companies and large healthcare provider networks (and drug companies) collude to screw people over and extract the maximum amount of money out of each person and try to change that, rather than looking at your fellow citizen/friend/neighbor who wants medical care as your adversary. Health care for all works fine in other countries. You should educate yourself and actually find out how it works. Only americans seems to find the concept hard to understand.
