He isn’t “broken” for sure, he just does better when we approach him in a different way. And boy is he smart at the things he is interested in… it seems that it is up to us to figure out what he needs and provide that. When schools adapt their teaching to the learning styles of all kids, when employers are quick to adjust the work duties of an employee to better take advantage of their strengths, and when people are more accepting of personalities and careers that aren’t their own personal Versions of “normal” or acceptable, then Autism might not seem like that big of a deal.
