When it comes to Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière, fashionistas often think of bourgeois-impressive designs that combine unconventionally with other contemporary fashion styles. But his main highlight does not stop at the new hybrids, but also in the form of costumes inspired by massive architectural works, which is the pride of humanity.
At the same time, the spirit of breaking all the limits of the body and the old prejudices of society is once again clearly affirmed by Nicolas through the designs that are soft, feminine but equally. luxury piece from the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 Collection.
The show took place at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, located in the suburbs of San Diego, California, during a sunset that is both poetic and romantic. Designed by architect Louis Kahn in 1965, Salk Research Institute with its rigid geometric structure is one of the most famous Rustic architectural works in the world.
Under the late afternoon sunlight crept through the concrete walls and doorways, the show seemed to be immersed in a beautiful and magnificent mythological space.
Talking about the costume designs, the collection is like being “tailored to make shoes” to be performed at the Salk Institute. Nicolas has skillfully used a variety of knitted fabrics and metal studs, representing the twinkling rays of the sunset. Blue, silver, and orange glitter as well as silver and gold PVC accents many outfits throughout the runway show.
As usual, the current Creative Director of Louis Vuitton often plays with oversized shapes and structures. Opening the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 show were three oversized dresses with elaborate padded shoulders made of iridescent knitted fabric. Followed by a series of powerful and bold pointed shoulder designs.
The padded shoulder detail once again became the main highlight for the last three bolero models to end the show. Not stopping there, the pleated outfit is also the most notable detail of the BST. Many sets are accentuated with pleated skirts, headscarves, blouses to create a contrasting effect on the sturdy structure of the outfit’s geometric shape.
