Fans were ecstatic to see so many of their favorite X-Men characters return to the big screen in the eagerly awaited “Deadpool & Wolverine” film. But Storm, a well-known mutant, was conspicuously missing. The iconic weather-controlling superheroine Halle Berry disclosed the unexpected cause for her absence.
Berry’s Open Disclosure
During the “The Union” film premiere, Berry said to ComicBook that she was never asked to return to the character of Storm from “Deadpool & Wolverine.” She responded simply, “No,” and then lightheartedly recounted a chat she had with Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively, who makes a brief appearance in the movie.
Berry had met Lively at a fashion show, and she had asked Berry if she would be in the film. “Have you ever thought about appearing in my husband’s movie as Storm?” Lively inquired. Berry answered with a straightforward “Sure if he asks me.” But the call never arrived.
Fan Letdown
Fans are baffled by the fact that Reynolds, who co-wrote and co-produced the movie, didn’t get in touch with Berry. Given the intricate history between Storm and Wolverine, and her status as one of the biggest stars to have graced the X-Men franchise, her participation seemed inevitable. Fans’ dissatisfaction was increased by Berry’s willingness to play the part again.
Fans of Storm will have to make do with Berry’s four prior X-Men movie appearances for the time being. Even though her character died in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ Professor X raised her back to life, allowing for potential cameos.
A Star-Studded Ensemble
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ features an excellent cast of heroes and villains from the MCU’s past and maybe future, but Berry’s Storm was conspicuously absent. Chris Evans, in a cameo as Johnny Storm from the 2000s “Fantastic Four” series, Henry Cavill as a Wolverine version, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor are all featured in the movie.
Berry’s Career Is Still Growing
Though Berry was not present for the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ reunion, his career is still going strong. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the contentious smash “Catwoman,” the Oscar-winning actress demonstrated that she is still making an impact in Hollywood, even in the absence of her well-known Storm image.
While Berry’s impact and ongoing appeal are undoubtedly enhanced by Storm’s absence in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” it is still a squandered opportunity. Fans are excited to see her in her next on-screen change as she keeps taking on interesting new parts.
