In Game 3, Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand collided with Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett, resulting in an upper-body injury that is labeled as day-to-day. The Bruins, who are currently behind 2-1 in the series, are concerned about Marchand’s availability for Sunday’s Game 4.
The aforementioned hit has generated debate, with some claiming Bennett deliberately touched Marchand’s head. Jim Montgomery, the coach of the Boston Bruins, acknowledged the occurrence and mentioned Bennett’s past use of similar strikes. Bennett won’t face any punishment, though, according to the NHL’s department of player safety.
Marchand’s status is still unknown, but the Bruins are still hopeful about their prospects. Center Charlie Coyle of Boston highlighted the team’s capacity to step up when star players aren’t available, drawing comparisons to the Toronto Maple Leafs’ tenacity in the previous round following Auston Matthews’ injury.
The Panthers, though, are concentrated on holding onto their lead. After sitting out a few games, Bennett made a comeback to the lineup and was instrumental in Game 3 with multiple hits and an assist.
The Bruins will need to come together in Marchand’s probable absence when the series returns to Boston for Game 4. The Panthers, meanwhile, will try to build on their advantage and win another game away from home.
